Africa: Odinga - A Disgrace to Continent - The Herald

MARK Twain, an acclaimed American author wrote: "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt".

Author: katz

"Odinga is a disgrace to the continent, which has produced notable statesmen like Nelson Mandela who spent all his life fighting for the liberation of his people and Robert Mugabe who is fighting for the total emancipation of his people." - if I recall correctly the first notable stateman, Madiba, recently deplored the second, so called 'notable stateman' for his tragic failure of leadership. It is laughable that The Herald mentions Mandela and Mugabe in the same context. Once, many years ago that may have been possible, but no longer. Mugabe's crimes against the people of Zimbabwe in pursuing his insane lust for power place him firmly amongst the Abacha's, Amin's, Mengistu's and Mbotu's of Africa.

" What has Odinga (correction MUGABE) to show for himself, except bloody hands, which no doubt soiled his reputation of ever being regarded as a statesman. Instead of being fixated with what is happening in Zimbabwe (correction THE WEST), Odinga (correction MUGABE) should be concerned with healing his own country where thousands (correction MILLIONS) still remain displaced, traumatised and reluctant to return to the their former homes because the horrors they witnessed are forever etched in their minds. Odinga (correction MUGABE) will remain an overly ambitious politician who would stop at nothing to achieve his political ends. He should keep his tainted hands off Zimbabwe." - with some small corrections The Herald may actually report the truth for once.

My feelings about African leaders is that they are good for nothing, except for a few who ca stand for truth without fear. I must say that the silence we see in our leaders is becausethey also have issues to hide.If the spot light is to be shined on them then most defintely they will b fond wanting. So they resort to silence and try to solve problems by creating even deeper ones. The concept of resolving African election wangles by the so called "unity government" is directly opposed to the very fundamental principles of democracy. We cant keep mending a new garment with an old one.Ian Khama of Botswana represents a type of leadership that Africa needs to adopt.Mwanawasa,Kikwete are also good leaders who need to be commended. As for Mbeki , he is past his expiry date. Not fit to be mediator. He is a shame to Africa. He must not claim to be a patriotic leader.

Odinga in not a disgrace but is what all of the African politician should emulate, a true warior. What he fought for in Kenya is rigging of an election which has become too common in Africa. Any one in support of Susan's view is someone not will to face the facts. Mugabe, "African Hitler" has brought Zimbabwe to its knees. Economy is ruins, and any one opposing Mugabe's way is charged with treson. Zimbabwe is a disgrace to the African continent. And it is also disgrace that not to many African leaders are speaking out

Africa needs a voice that will speak for its helpless without fear of losing benefits or perks from those who abuse power.enough is enough

May be Odinga should keep quiet as Zimbabweans languish in the worst dictatorship ever seen on the continent by a fellow African. The cost of common foods like bread, Z$10 million accrding to Christain Science Monitor, is laughable if it were not tragic. Based on the polished english language used by the writer, he is obviously not one of the suffering Zimbabweans. Mugabe might have been right at the beggining fighting for local ownership of land, but the current situation is simply not tenable and all efforts must be applied to change the leadership. Pride or existance, that is the question!

Always perfect and telling the truth all the time that is the herald 's naive policy. You waste so much time attacking and critising and other nations instead of finding solutions to your problems. what wrong has Odinga done except of telling the truth and calling a spade a spade without fear. He is not like you who leave in fear everyday and write stories to please your evil masters who live by devouring human flesh. How can you see blood in Odinga's hands when you fail to see falls of blood dripping from Mugabe's hands. the opposite is true its you who are a total disgrace to the whole of AFRICA. You still leave in the colonial limbo 28 years after indipendence with nothing to celebrate about. 20 years after indipence people are subjected to oppressive laws that are worse than your predecessors. people' s liberties and human rights have been stripped by a ruthless regime that oppresses other black people. the people are febd up with Mugabe and his stupid policies. your empire is near collapse and you shall have no were to run. For once can you start reporting the truth, without bias and protect the voices of the suffering masses in Zimbabwe. Shame on you the Herald history will judge you according.

The Kenyan people and the African feel and pray for stability and return of peace to Zimbabwe. We need African to get engaged in constructive and not destructive dogma as Raila would like to see. The interference of Raila in the zimbambwean people cannot pass without comment. Hon. Raila is instigating violence in Zimbabwe as he did in Kenya. I am proud of Zimbabwe since they did not listen to this mad man. He is now trying to place himself as the leader of the whole of Africa, My God, please!! His goal is to overshadow Mwai Kibaki, and thus look like he is the spokesman of the Kenyan Government. Kenya needs to stay away from Zimbambwe. We still have thousand of children and women who are homeless in Kenya because of his deed, and he has not tried to make it good since they do not belong to his tribe. This is a man who lives and dies by the tribe, what a shame!!!

I am gland there some people outside Kenya knows, understand and remember the history of Raila. This is not the first time his hands are dripping with blood, it’s his nature. There is history with his family and blood dripping. Kenya should not forget that when Jomo Kenyatta was president, Raila’s father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga was vice-president. This is a man who wanted so much to become president he could not wait. His political ambition saw him leave KANU, the ruling party at the time, to form his own party, the KPU. He got the help from Russia in order to destabilize Kenyatta’s government and in the process lives were lost.

When Oginga hid father did not manage to take power from Kenyatta, he waited eyeing for the post from the side-lines. Daniel Arap Moi took over from Kenyatta and Oginga’s frustrations could no longer be hidden. Oginga the father and son who at this time have joined hands have became very desperate and decided to engineer the attempted coup in 1982, a coup against Moi which almost succeeded. Many lives and were lost during this period. There was blood flowing on Nairobi streets. This same Oginga was at the time in house arrest in Kisumu, but still managed to communicate with the coup plotters. There is history of violence and blood in the family that needs to examine carefully. He oginga needs to clean his house first before interfering with the zimbamwean.

What did African leaders do when the opposition lead by him killed innocent in Kenyan, and what is Raila explanation of these killing? He has not addressed these killing so far and he want to get involved with Zimbabwe where there was no genocide of women and children? Zimbabweans and African at large need Peace but at the same times the crimes committed in Kenya by the Opposition, masterminded by Raila Oginga need not go without prosecutions in the international tribunal in Hague. It is very clear that these crimes were organized and financed by his people!! If the UN can prosecute the crimes committed in Yugoslavia, and especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina, then they can prosecute those in Kenya.

These crimes are described in the Charter of the International Military Tribunal which was held at Nuremberg. UN Secretary-General, in his proposal on the Statute of the Tribunal, explained that `crimes against humanity are aimed at any civilian population', and listed the examples of murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, imprisonment, torture, rape, persecutions on political, racial and religious grounds, and other inhuman acts in the “UN Doc. S/25704, at 13, points 48-49 the crimes committed in Rift valley clearly meets the above criteria. Few of the above happened in Zimbabwe, Raila, and clean your house first before you think about other people. Let those poor homeless people return to Rift valley!!!

hi zimbabweans and my fellow africans!!One day i know my Zimbabwean friend will wake up,have breakfast, pick a car and go to job, have a good lunch and share a light moment with their friends at a local cofee shop over the evening..discussing about politics and about their beautiful country.About Raila,he should know better than just talking about Mugabe while he himself is grooming to one.Africans, since when will these guys stop this circus and concentrate on our problems?Since when shall we have selfless leaders who realise the sovereinity of their motherland lies with the people who elect them?while i strongly condemn Mugabe and his draconian tactics, i also think Raila is very much to blame for what has been happening here in Kenya.i like Zimbabweans to be happy, be it with Mugabe or Tshvangirai, they fought for their independence so as not to be a banana republic.and hey Zimbabweans,Mugabe is a dictator, but that should not be construed to mean that Morgan will take you guys to Canaan.Do not kill one another because of those two guys.Instead love to live with love for one another like there is a better tomorrow, for if you make it through the day today, there is a better day. TUPAC once said in his song for mama,..."every day will be alright if you hold on, there is a struggle every day gotta roll on..." I LOVE YOU GUYS,KEEP STRONG AND DONT LET GO!!!!!

Hi,as much as you want to disgrace odinga, its no use first start disgracing your own then come to our own.Over the blood on odingas hand, man, its not the truth, that whats happen when two elephants fight, the blood is in all kenyas hands cause they are the ones who decided to lynch each other. For mugabe i do support everything the man is doing up to now,for the west i think they should keep to themselves and let mature africans lead their countries,we dont need their interventions cause they never bother to ask AFRICAN COUNTRIES WHAT TO DO WHEN THEY DECIDE TO INVADE OTHER COUNTRIES,THERE IS TOO MUCH BLOOD IN THEIR HANDS MORE THAN AFRICANS CAUSE THEY HAVE CAUSED MUCH IN MANY COUNTRIES.Odinga has a right to speak let him say what he wants to say,i mean the guy knows what he knows they way he knows, your articles are great but calling Odinga a disgrace, never,we love the guy.

NO! IT IS NOT ABOUT ODINGA.

This is yet another obvious signature on the face of we Africans- that the depth of moron ism and height of brain-washing our African people have suffered, is frightening. Susan Chipanga is in a coma because of this and alongside many other `victims' especially in Kenya supporting her views, she urgently needs `life support' tools of education! You have to be out of your mind to fail to `observe' (use all the 5 senses) that Mugabe is a despot. More so if you are one of his very subjects, I do not care how much favor you benefit directly from his leadership. This is a beast-style of leadership and it must never, never, never be allowed to spill into my beloved Kenyan nation. You can not subject your own people to such depths of misery and claim a place in today's world. The same same ugly head of this anathema has been rearing its head in our beautiful nation of Kenya in recent history but each time, we have stopped it in its tracks (thanks to the daring and real leaders like Odinga). The author and her Herald newspaper cronies will one time be brought to justice, either by her own country men or by the very `just' History. It does not matter how long it takes. How about her cheerleaders in Kenya packing and leaving to join her in Zimbabwe to celebrate Mugabe's regime victory?
