Two venture capital funds are expected in Kenya later this month in search of partnerships with small and medium scale businesses.

The two are expected at the World Entrepreneur Summit to be held in Nairobi later this month.

One of the companies called Envestors will be looking for opportunities in diverse fields and will also link entrepreneurs with investors. The company said it will be looking for companies in their early development stages, but not start-ups, which require cash injection of Sh2.5 million to Sh250 million.

Another company known as Corps Worldwide is willing to put its money in the production of bio-fuel.It will also bring in at least 100 Kenyan business owners in the diaspora who will give their business experiences and find ways to partner with local entrepreneurs on export market access.

The summit will also involve preparing SME owners for partnerships and franchises with foreign partners.

The summit organisers, the Sahara Communities Abroad (SACOMA) and World Entrepreneurship Summit (WES) will launch a Sh187 million support fund for Kenyan entrepreneurs to restore livelihoods after the post- election violence.

Sacoma is already working with business clubs associated with Barclays, Standard Charted and Equity Bank as well as other SMEs networks. Perez Ochieng, the chief executive of the United Kingdom-based Sacoma said the summit will create genuine business opportunities and enduring partnerships.
