Rwanda and Uganda parliaments are to establish a working relationship that will promote good governance practices in both countries.

If established parliament diplomacy will provide a unique opportunity for members of parliament from both countries to discuss and share experiences with a view to solving problems common to both parliaments.

The development follows a recent courtesy visit to the Parliament of Uganda by Ignatius Kamali Karegesa, the Rwandan Ambassador where the initiative was discussed with the Ugandan Speaker of Parliament, Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

"This is an initiative of the Government of Rwanda as a means to step up practices of good governance. We are also trying to establish the same relationship in other countries where Rwanda is represented. We want members of parliament to meet and exchange ideas, share experiences and learn from each other. As government this will help us serve our people better, "Kamali told The New Times.

"We are at the preliminary stages, once the interaction begins we shall be able to compare both parliaments and see how we can benefit from each other. This relationship is important because in a broader perspective, it will enhance good working relations within the region since both countries are members of the EAC. "
