Angola: Family Minister Appeals to Women to Preserve Environment

Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Cândida Celeste, Thursday in Luanda appealed to women to play a relevant part in the preservation of the environment.

Cândida Celeste was speaking during the signing of a partnership memorandum for the development of environmental awareness and education for the rural folks and their communities, with a particular bearing on women.

According to the minister, environmental education is one of the most effective components that will benefit the society, hence the need for women awareness for its preservation.

The memorandum was signed by the minister of Urbanisation and Environment, Sita José, Family and Women Promotion, Cândida Celeste, and by the chairperson of the Board of Lwini Solidarity Fund, Joana Lina, who also represented the rural women committee.

On the other hand, speaking on behalf of Fundo Lwini, Joana Lina, pledged to do her best in implementing the memorandum.

Established on June 30, 1998, the "Fundo de Solidariedade Lwini" has as its purpose to raise funds and assist landmine victims, rural women and children.
