THE Vice-President, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, has denied allegations that he snatched another man's wife.

In a statement yesterday, the Vice-President's press secretary, Linda Nabusaayi, said the allegations were false and aimed at blackmailing Bukenya.

Nabusaayi also attacked Jamillah Nakku, who once claimed that she was Bukenya's mistress.

Nabusaayi described Nakku as "a scorned woman" who had tried to destroy the reputation of the Vice-President.

The Weekly Observer yesterday quoted a man, Emmanuel Nyabayongo, alleging that Bukenya had snatched his wife, Kabasinguzi Akiiki.

The story added that at one time, Nakku complained to Nyabayongo that Akiiki was giving Bukenya false information about her.

But Nabusaayi dismissed the publication as a crafted report meant to create sympathy for people who had tried blackmailing the Vice-President.

"The only truth in The Weekly Observer is that Nyabayongo was once a resident of Kakiri, he is married to Kabasinguzi Akiiki and they used to be supporters of the NRM Government and Prof. Bukenya as an area MP," the statement said.

Nabusaayi said Nyabayongo had made wild allegations "using equally shocking rumours relayed to him by Nakku, a woman who once tried so desperately to destroy Prof. Bukenya's reputation."

"People who are desperate and frustrated out of their own actions like Nyabayongo must not be used to fight political and personal wars like the Weekly Observer has done."
