Districts authorities in Kapchorwa have resolved that schools recruit guards to check fire outbreaks and other forms of insecurity.

During a meeting for district leaders on Tuesday, the resident district commissioner, Jane Kuka, said: "We will sensitise headmasters and other school leaders to ensure that the resolution is implemented for the safety of our children."

After the meeting, she told The New Vision that the district security committee would ensure that the guards are law- abiding citizens who could not get involved in burning schools. Kuka added that 140 guards would be recruited.

"We shall not allow schools to recruit old people who will end up sleeping instead of taking care of our children," Kuka added.
