Kampala
IT is the event where Kampala's fun-loving people converge for a day of fun as they watch goats race. It is a journalist's paradise with all the crazily dressed girls and the zany things people are bound to do after taking one too many.
But at the end of the day, a lot of money is raised through corporate advertising and entry fees for different charitable causes. Last year, over sh25m was raised this way. We are talking about the annual Ascot Goat Races.
Over the years, Kampalans have looked forward to the event, whose entry is mainly by corporate invitation. The latest gossip is that the event has been confirmed for August 30 at Speke Resort, Munyonyo.
We are told among the companies which have so far confirmed participation is MTN, whose tent is popular for the ever flowing drinks and food, Kampala Casino, Kenya Airways, Warid Telecom and Ruparelia Group of Companies. As usual, there will be prizes for the best dressed couple.
