An ensuring that Nigerians get the best of integrated health care services, Professor Umaru Shehu, FAS, CFR, DFMC, has called for the creation of a conducive environment where inter-professional dialogue and cross- fertilisation of ideas can be engendered.

Professor Shehu, who made this call while chairing a one-day workshop organised by the Committee of Registrars of the Health Professions (CRHP), yesterday in Abuja, stressed that aside from understanding the peculiarities and uniqueness of each profession, it would also foster unity and the spirit of teamwork. This, he said, would be achieved towards achieving their common objectives, which include building a responsive, responsible and committed health system in dealing with numerous health problems of the people.

The Chairman, Committee of Registrars of Health Profession (CRHP), and the Registrar, Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), Pharmacist Ahmed T. Mora in his speech, disclosed that the theme of the workshop, "The Role of Health Regulatory Bodies in Advancing Health care Delivery Services in Nigeria", was deliberately coined, to underscore the commitment of the 13 regulatory bodies as parastatals of the ministry.

According to him, "as standard setters, benchmark drafters and implementers of our individual mandates, as per the Act establishing our regulatory bodies or other such resolutions emanating from our various governing boards and / or councils, it is necessary for us to ensure that healthcare delivery system is properly articulated.
