Uganda: Ecology Studies to Start at Makerere

MAKERERE University Private Sector Forum is planning to set up a semi-independent institute that will teach ecological sustainability in Africa.

The Makerere Africa Institute of Sustainability is meant to produce skilled manpower for preservation of the environment.

"Environmental degradation is a major problem in Africa and the institute wants

to fight it," said Nuha Mwesigwa, the executive director of the forum.

According to Mwesigwa, the institute will receive funding from China and Europe and will have branches all over Uganda.
