Kwara
Kwara State Government has unveiled the allocation of over N100 million to meet the nation's afforestation programme.
Governor Bukola Saraki said this during the opening of the 17th Planning Campaign of the Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN) in Ilorin.
In a statement by the state Ministry of Environment, said the governor, who was represented by the state Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, had begun the beautification of its cities to make the state one of the cleanest in the country.
The Commissioner for Environment and Tourism, Alhaji Ahmed Makama, said the state had 29 protected forest reserves with a total land area of almost 6000 kilometres.

He commended the state government for the release of funds to the Forestry Department and for refurbishing its broken down vehicles. Speaking also, FAN President, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed, said the conferment of the association's award on the governor was in recognition of his innovation in agriculture, particularly the Tsonga Integrated Farm Complex.
