Nigeria: Sokoto Approves N235 Million for Science Equipment

The Sokoto State government has approved N235 million for the purchase of science equipment for schools in the state. This was announced by the commissioner of Science and Technical Education, Barrister Nasiru Aliyu, IN Sokoto yesterday while presenting kitchen utensils worth over N5.6million to some of the science schools in the state.

Aliyu started that about N48million has been earmarked for the purchase of textbooks while another N40million has been set aside for the purchase of science equipment. According to him, the sum of N47million has been earmarked for the purchase of beddings and other accommodation materials while the fencing of Government Girls' College, Sokoto is to cost N41.1million with N33.4million approved for the fencing of Government Girls' College Tambunal. The commissioner also announced that the furnishing of GGC Tambunal's laboratory is to cost N12million while N7million has been set aside for the purchase of equipment as a result of NBTE accreditation, which is expected soon.
