A stakeholder in the tourism and culture industry, has revealed that Farin Ruwa, a water fall in Nasarawa State has the potential of generating nothing less than N4 billion yearly into the state coffers.
The Managing Director of White Cloud media, Mr. Nefuto Oluranti, in an exclusive interview with Leadership in Abuja, said when the water fall is fully developed, revenue will be generated from it for both the state and federal government.
He said: "Farin Ruwa is one of the best water falls in the whole world. If you look at the place, you will see heaven. You will see that this is nature under normal circumstances"
The managing director who noted that the Nasarawa State government has not yet started generating revenue from the water fall, stated that even though it is not yet developed, it could still yield a lot of revenue for the state.
According to him, if the state government makes the road leading to the fall accessible to Nigerians, a lot of people would love to visit the place, and the state government would also start yielding revenue from it, despite its present under developed state. This, he continued is due to the beauty of the place.
"If you go to Farin Ruwa now, from Akwanga to Farin Ruwa, normally, it is supposed to take you about 20 to 30 minutes, but you discover that the road is nothing to write home about. This has discouraged people and tourists, even the local tourist's don't go there.
"Look at Nasarawa State alone, you can count more than 1000 tourist and cultural potentials in just 2 to 3 local governments. A local government has nothing less than 10 or 15 potentials. If you go into the towns, you must see a particular tourist attraction, and this is just one state.
From Akwanga to Lafia, if you look at the hills, mountains, all things being equal, the state is capable of generating billions of naira from its tourism potentials.
