THE Ministry of Health is to get a $100m loan (about sh162b) from the World Bank to improve its infrastructure, a commissioner has said.

Dr. Francis Runumi said part of the money would be used to train medical workers and improve their welfare.

Addressing a consultative meeting on how to improve the health sector at Fairway Hotel in Kampala last week, Runumi said improved infrastructure would enable the health sector run its activities effectively.

"You cannot improve the health sector when you don't have enough equipment to run hospitals," Runumi noted.

He called upon the Government to establish by-laws on sanitation.

A health researcher, Charlotte Muheki Zikusooka, urged the Government to implement the Public Health Act.
