Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, Wednesday launched, in Kabiri commune, northern Bengo province, about 60 kilometres of Luanda, the "Water for All" project, under a Government initiative that was approved in June 2007.

The project aims at achieving, by 2012, the desired levels of water supply to the rural population, in an average of 80 percent.

It is being co-ordinated by an inter-provincial commission comprising the Ministries of Energy and Waters (co-ordinator), Territory Administration, Health, Agriculture and Rural Development and Secretariat of the Cabinet Council.

Provincial governments are in charge of the practical execution of the programme, and indicate priority areas, as well as its financial management.

At the occasion, José Eduardo dos Santos, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, said that it is a project of strategic importance for the government, since water is an essential element for productive activities.
