Angola's Immigration Services and Foreigners (SME) is holding their 12nd Broad Consultative Council to outline their national action, Angop learned Wednesday in Luanda.

The deputy minister of Interior and SME director, Eduardo Ferreira Martins, who was speaking at the opening of the meeting, mentioned the participation of his institution in the security of the ongoing electoral process as one of the main priorities for the organ.

The continued implementation of technical and organisational measures, through training of personnel, was also mentioned as one of the priorities for the institution.

He said the introduction of new and better technical means is indispensable to the substantial reduction of the time in the issuing of passports and visas.

According to him, the meeting is to discuss programmes and objectives, but mainly the methods and procedures in all domains of the organ's activity.

The official stated as well that the SME will soon achieve the results of the measures that will be introduced for the reinforcement of the capacity in granting migratory facilities to nationals and foreigners, particularly passports and visas.

The 12nd Consultative Council that will close Thursday will also discuss the role of the attorney's office in the standardisation of criteria of control of circulation of people in domestic airports.
