Lubango

The new thermal station of the southern Huíla Province, equipped with 40 generators with the capacity of producing 30 megawatts of power, will be inaugurated on Friday, in Lubango City, in the framework of the government's programme of increasing the supply of basic services to the population.

According to the southern region director of the National Company of Electricity (ENE), Celestino João, this action results from the need to create an alternative electricity source to Matala's hydro-electric dam and satisfy the demand in the provinces of Huíla and Namibe.

The generators are in this province since last May, and ENE technicians started installing them in June.

Celestino João said that his company aims at improving the product supplied by his firm and also expand the network of medium and low voltage in the outskirts of the city, so that every local inhabitant may benefit from it.
