The Angolan Head of state, José Eduardo dos Santos, on Friday here said the country is facing a very important and historic moment, ANGOP has learnt.

Speaking to ANGOP, after voting for the legislative elections, he added that the most important thing is that Angola end up this great challenge as a winner, for the consolidation of democracy.

José Eduardo dos Santos said "we have started now a new political cycle" and "I think that we have also started a new manner of doing politics and achieve certain goals in which there is competition based on respect and liberty."

With the participation of everyone, President Eduardo dos Santo said, Angola will continue to improve.

With regard to the electoral process, President José Eduardo dos Santos said so far things are going well, as there is tolerance, respect of opinions and a fraternal environment, despite the exchange of different ideas among the people.

Angolans have had an exemplary behaviour in a general way, said the President, adding that if things continue in this path "I think we will give a great example to the world".

Now I know why Jonas Savimbi went as far as to accept arms from apartheid SA, he just had to enlarge his post war movement,for Angola to have a credible opposition,a realy true sign of democracy.
