POLICE has arrested 27 citizens of Niger Republic believed to be suspected armed robbers in an uncompleted building in Minna, Niger State.
The state commissioner of Police, Mr, Paul Iseghohi who disclosed this while addressing Journalists in Minna Friday said some of the suspects have confessed in different statements to the police that they are robbers also on the wanted list of their country for difference cases.
He said they will soon be handed over to the immigration after further investigations for deportation to their country.
Mr, Iseghohi also said that between may this year to date, fourty two armed robbery suspects have also been arrested by his command from different areas in the state.
This he said are from ten different cases reported adding that other cases like rape, house breaking are also among other numerous cases being treated by his command.
The commissioner of police said with the arrest of the Nigerians and other suspected armed robbers from different hideouts in the state, residents in the state can be assured of going to bed with their two eyes closed as crime will relatively be at the lowest ebb.
He said police in the state has started clamping down on motorcyclists who are of the harbit of carrying three passengers on their bike adding that investigation by the police has shown that most of them are criminally minded.
Already, thirty one of such motorcycles have been seized and the riders arrested and found to be mostly criminals.
He also said that ten vehicles have also been arrested in a stop and search method adopted by the police in the state and found to be criminals.
On the Thursday canoe mishap in which a legislator and two personal aides to the state governor, Dr, Babangida Aliyu died, the commissioner of police said three suspects seen to be attacking the legislator from Bangi have been arrested and are helping the police in their further investigations.
