The Minister of Land, Water and Environment, Mr. Woldenkiel Gebremariam, participated in the first African ministerial conference regarding health and environment issues that was held in the Gabonese capital of Libreville.

The conference held from August 28 to 29 which mainly focused on the impact of environment on health concluded adopting the Libreville Declaration. The participants agreed to hold similar meeting every two years.

The declaration calls for exerting efforts at the national and regional level towards strengthening institutional capacity in the health and environment sectors, encourage the undertaken of study on environment and health matters, as well as ensure the effective implementation of policies, among others.
