It was a testing moment for Sweet Kid when a heavy down pour nearly ruined his Sirina Mulala album launch held at the Hotel Equatorial parking lot on Saturday. It all started as a little drizzle at about 8p.m, but the rain increased with time and went on for more than an hour.
However, the crowd exhibited maximum tolerance and braved the natural calamity as they carried their seats above their heads to protect themslves from the rain and so did the several musicians who went ahead and perfomed with the same energy in the rain.
Back stage, Sweet Kid looked every inch worried about people making up their minds not to come for the show as well as the risk of losing those that that had turned up.
But thanks to the musicians at hand, they were by Sweet Kid's side and gave him a great deal of consolation. Azizi Azion, Morris Hassa, Kid Fox, Grace Nakalema, Viva Stars, Lady Mariam, HB Toxic, Mr Mosh, Born Ugandans, No Creature and Dr Propa were some of the curtain raisers and they surely perfomed with an aim of keeping the crowd in place till Sweet Kid stepped on stage.
At about 11.30p.m, the rain had stopped and it was the right time for Sweet Kid to take to the floor. It was his day and he indeed he stood out from the crowd by making a fashion statement.
Clad in a red skirt, white shirt, black suspenders with matching black cowboy hat and boots, Sweet Kid was introduced on stage with his Akadde hit and amidst loud cheers. He went ahead to perform some of his old songs like Nze Wuwo, Sanyu Lyange, Kiba Kibi, Tobesiga, Kankuwale, Brenda, and Sirikyusa.
In a rather trembling tone, Sweet Kid thanked the crowd for the support, and apologised for the absence of the two big shots Juliana Kanyomozi and Bebe Cool with whom he collaborated on the album, "You can't understand how I feel and I really dont have a way to thank you for supporting me, but am very grateful for the support," Sweet Kid said.
