Rwanda: Moslems Pray for the Nation On Idd Day

Yesterday Hundreds of Moslems gathered at Amahoro national stadium in Remera to pray for the nation and to celebrate the end of the holy month of Ramadhan.
At the gathering, different speakers from different religious organizations emphasized the role of religious leaders in the unity and reconciliation process.
Among the speakers were Tony Lenart from Australia who stressed that there can never be unity and reconciliation without love for one another.
"Love, not hate, is the only thing that can bring harmony," he said.
He also thanked the Muslem community in Rwanda for not taking part in the 1994 Tutsi Genocide saying that it gave them another credit because it showed the degree of brotherhood that they hold.
Other speakers advised on prevention of killer diseases such as Aids. A pastor, whom this reporter could only identify as Gakuba, at the prayers said that the only way to prevent killer diseases like Aids was to follow God's commandment against immorality.
He also appealed to the government to give enough platforms to religious leaders so that they can be able to teach the people how to avoid killer diseases in a 'Godly' way.
"Since the people are the resource of the country, like the president always tells us, we need to teach them how to keep their lives holy," Gakuba noted.

The gathering ended with prayers from all religious leaders who were present to pray for peace to prevail in the nation.
