The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Osman Saleh, said that Eritrea has already laid solid ground for economic development on the basis of internal resources and the rich experience it had acquired.

He made the remarks in a seminar he conducted on September 27 to Eritrean nationals residing in New York and its environs.

The Minister indicated that the efforts to achieve food security and develop skilled manpower are registering major achievements. Noting that Eritrea believes that regional peace is a precondition to development and prosperity, Mr. Osman pointed out that the country is doing its level best to promote lasting peace in the region. In this respect, the endeavors being made to promote peace in Sudan and between Sudan and Chad attest to this fact, he elaborated.

Foreign Minister Osman further lauded the major contribution which Eritrean citizens living in different parts of the world are extending in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty and backing up the development drive. He also called on them to enhance their contribution so as to register still greater achievements.
