Eritrea: Efforts Underway to Ease Potable Water Supply Problem in Adi-Seidna

2 October 2008

Kerkebet — As part of efforts being made by the Anseba regional administration in collaboration with partners to provide reliable potable water supply to the public, the installation of water pipelines in Adi-Seidna, Kerkebet sub-zone, is nearing finalization.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Wuela Mohammed Ali, pointed out that the damaged and old pipelines are now being replaced with new ones at a cost of over 1 million Nakfa.

Reports also indicated that water distribution stations in the villages of Adi-Seidna, Kechech, Adi-Simbra and Himbol which were out of function due to heavy rains are now being renovated. The regional administration and partners have disbursed over 8 million Nakfa towards renovating these facilities.

Previously, the inhabitants of Adi-Seidna used to travel 4 to 5 hours to fetch water that was not up to standard, the reports added.
