The leader of the Hausa community in Abia State, Alhaji Yaro Danladi, has appealed for the creation of additional state in the South-East geo-political zone.
In an interview with leadership in Umuahia after the Eid-el-Fitri prayer at Amuzukwu Primary School, Umuahia, Yaro said an additional state in the zone would benefit the Hausas and other Nigerians who reside in the area.
He called on the Federal Government to rehabilitate the dilapidated roads in the zone, maintaining that poor state of roads affects all Nigerians who ply them for their businesses.
The traditional ruler stressed the need for Nigerians to continually promote peace and unity among the ethnic groups as well as tolerate each other's religion.
He expressed the gratitude of the Hausa community in the state to the government for considering their welfare in its policies and programmes to support the administration.
In a related development, the member, representing Aba central constituency in the state House of Assembly, Chief Uzor Azubuike, has advocated for the creation of Aba State for balance in the number of states in the six geo-political areas as well as the establishment of a local government system in the Constitution to enable it stand on its own.
Azubuike, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, said the National Assembly can not go about the amendment of the constitution alone and stressed the need for it.
