The tournament will be played in a round robin system. The men's side will have bottom eight, middle four and top four categories while women's game will have bottom seven and top four. The winner of each pool advances to the next level.

Esther Kanaimba of Debswana said at the unveiling of the sponsorship that they are proud of the contribution the company has made to sport. She explained that her company has a corporate social responsibility programme meant to help the community and benefit individuals. She added that they are always prepared to support a good course and challenged other codes to emulate volleyball and make more creative proposals in order to convince Debswana to sponsor them.

Kanaimba said that a long-term partnership with volleyball is possible. She asserted that the world has changed and sport should move from asking for donations to entering into partnerships with companies. Kanaimba said they take pride in supporting sport because it has an ability to promote the country and to infuse discipline in individuals. She said the tournament will give clubs a chance to enjoy themselves and get a competitive edge. She said codes should look at ways of developing sports besides hosting tournaments.

Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) president Tsoseletso Nkala expressed worry that Botswana has not been doing well at international level. She said that is why they came up with a 10-year development plan to develop volleyball. She applauded Debswana and said through the company's support, BVF can achieve its dreams. Nkala said in their efforts to develop the sport, they face many hiccups, key among them is shortage of facilities and personnel.
