University students have been asked to embrace programmes such as training in business management skills because the government does not have jobs to offer to them.

The call was today made by the Executive Director Enterprise Uganda Mr. Charles Ocici while presenting a paper to the student business community of Bugema University in Luweero District. The event was organised by the institute business school and facilitated by Enterprise Uganda.

Speaking on the benefits of 'Graduate Entrepreneurship Program' [GEP] that aims at reducing the problem of job seeking, Mr Ocici told over 700 students that many graduates who have completed university education have failed to get jobs but said it was not them to blame but the problem lays with attitude towards work as many young people do not want to be seen associating themselves with petty jobs.

"We have requested the graduates to come out and do something that can help them earn some money. Short of this, they risk landing themselves into crime related problems. However we have been mandated by government to help you by exposing you to a five-day specialized training opportunity so that you can be able to manage and run your own business without looking elsewhere for support," he said.
