Hassan "Field Marshal" Dalali has reversed his resignation to resign as Simba SC chairman.

Dalali told a news conference yesterday that he had decided to heed the call by club elders and supporters who had refused to recognise his resignation earlier in the week.

"I have decided to reverse my decision for the sake of unity in our club. We should forge unity as we seek to turn around our fortunes on the field," he said.

Dalali blamed Simba's poor run in the league on "sabotage from within", saying some players had been compromised into deliberately underperforming.

Dalali announced his resignation on Monday after a group of people claiming to be Simba supporters rioted outside his house in Magomeni, saying he should take responsibility for the team's poor showing in the league.

However, Simba elders dismissed the group as "hooligans and idlers" and said they did not recognise Dalali's resignation.

Speaking to journalists at the Simba clubhouse on Msimbazi Street, the elders said only a legitimate members' meeting had the authority to take Dalali to task.
