A number of "crucial" matters have to be sorted out before runaway goalkeeper Ivo Mapunda is allowed to rejoin Mainland champions Young Africans, the club has said.
Club chairman Imani Madega said Yanga were seeking to know on what grounds Ethiopian club St George lured Mapunda, who has since returned to join the national team.
"I have written to St George officials, but they have yet to respond to my letter, although I know that they have been communicating with other club officials," he said.
Madega added that the club was seeking to know who St George negotiated with and whether cash changed hands in the deal that saw Mapunda abscond and move to the Ethiopian club for trials.
He said Yanga were particularly concerned about reports that St George had paid for Mapunda's transfer and that the money had been pocked by a club official.
"We are investigating with a view to establishing who exactly took the money. In the meantime, I cannot say whether we will allow Mapunda to join the team or not."
In other development, secretary general Lucas Kisasa said they were in the dark as to the whereabouts of striker Credo Mwaipopo.
"I'll be lying to you if I told you where Mwaipopo is. We've heard something to the effect that he is in Sweden, but this has not been confirmed."
Mwaipopo is the second Yanga player to abscond in a month after Mapunda travelled to Ethiopia for trials without permission from the club.
Yanga vowed that they would not sign Mapunda's international transfer certificate if St George requested for one.
Despite Mapunda's act of indiscipline and lack of match fitness, Taifa Stars coach Marcio Maximo selected him to the team that will face Cape Verde in a World Cup qualifier in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.
