Angolan Defence minister, Kundi Paihama, said Thursday in central Huambo province that Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) wrote brilliant pages in their tough history, thanks to a high sense of patriotism and discipline.

"The spirit of mission and braveness of those who would not care about the sacrifice and gave their own lives, permitted the conquest of the so much desired peace for Angolans," said Kundi Paihama.

The minister was speaking at the event marking the main celebration of FAA's day, October 9.

According to him, at this specific and important moment Angola is going through, FAA's attentions are turned to the reconstruction and development at all levels, seeking to improve the aspects linked to discipline, training and upgrading of men.

He stated that the Armed Forces have added responsibilities as they are tasked with guaranteeing the respect for the constitutional order, the democratic institutions, national independence, integrity of territory, freedom and security of the populations against any threat or external aggression.

The minister also considered as indispensable the continued trainng of the man, and appaled to commanders and military chiefs, at all levels, not to neglect this aspect, providing the troops with opportunity for technical, professional and academic upgrading.

He said sophisticated means will be of no use if those who handle them are not trained.

In his address, Kundi Paihama assured that FAA will continue making a relevant contribute to the ongoing national reconstruction process.
