As the fever of the petition written by the former House of Assembly Member, Mr. Nanevwua Uhondo, who accused Governor Gabriel Suswam of financial mismanagement of state funds continued to grieve the state, the former National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Dr.Godwin Dabo, has dragged the erstwhile lawmaker to Makurdi High Court, claiming N300 million general damages on the petition.

In suit number MHC/252/2008, filed at the registry of the Makurdi High Court, Dabo'Adzuana is asking the court to grant an order directing Mr. Uhondo to produce relevant documents to prove his case against him as mentioned in the petition and against the governor of Benue State.

It could be recalled that Hon. Uhondo had prior to this, sworn an affidavit before the Commissioner of Oaths in the Makurdi High Court registry, insisting that the contents of his open letter to the governor were facts. He maintained that he would not withdraw the letter which indicated that the governor misappropriated excess crude and local government's allocation.

Dabo also urged the court to make an order of perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from further writing and circulating alleged falsehood against the governor and himself.

The erstwhile national auditor of the PDP also sought for an order directing the defendant to tender a letter of apology to him on the allegation contained in the open letter that he is sycophant to Governor Gabriel Suswam.

He said that he would not have gone to court if Mr. Uhondo did not directly mention his name in the petition.

Uhondo, in an interview, told leadership that he would not withdraw his open letter to Governor Gabriel Suswam because he was fully aware of the consequences of doing so as a former lawmaker.

He denied being sponsored to write the open letter to Governor Suswam, noting that he wrote the letter in the interest of Benue people as he was interested in the development of the state.

"Let me tell you, Dabo wrote against Tarka, nobody condemned him. Akure wrote against Aku, he was not condemned and the same for Abubakar Tsav who wrote against Akume without condemnation. What is happening is intimidation and they want me to recant. When you recant criminal allegations it is dangerous", Uhondo maintained.
