Tunis, October 10, 2008- The Carthage Acropolium, located on the hill of Byrsa where Dido is said to have first settled in 814 BC, will host a classical music festival which will attract some of the most interesting musical groups of the moment.

Dubbed "Carthage Musical October", the festival will run from October 14 to 31, 2008 and will feature 13 performances by musical troupes from 13 countries.

The Czech group "Bohemia" will launch the festival with extracts from the repertoire of Dvorak, Mozart and Smetana. Canada's Michel Cardin, will adapt Bach and Weiss on his lute and the young Japanese pianist, Yuma Osaki will play Chopin, and Schumann among other composers.

One of the festival's highlights will undoubtedly be the Swiss group "Athanas", will revisit the repertoire of the well known Arab musician Ferid El Atrach, whose works are models of musical composition.

The Spanish Quintet "Capilla Antigua de Chinchilla", will perform fragments from Spain's repertoire of medieval music.

Classical music lovers will appreciate the Festival's closing night which will feature the talented Dutch group "Combattimento Consort Amsterdam" which will perform extracts from Marini, Bach and other great composers.
