NO fewer than ten persons have died from an outbreak of gastro-enteritis in Dange/Shuni local government of Sokoto State.

Reports say, the worst affected area was Dange town, headquarters of the Council, where about 35 people were on admission at the Comprehensive Health Centre.

Other villages affected by the pandemic included Bodai, Shuni and Damboa as well as several other neighbouring villages.

Alhaji Bello Buhari, Deputy Speaker, Sokotate House of Assembly, who hailed from the area had paid a sympathy visit to the area and donated assorted drugs and cash to the victims.

"Between Tuesday and Wednesday we have buried no fewer than ten dead persons," he said.

The State's Assembly Committee on Health also visited the area.

"We have to come to commiserate with the people sequel to the disturbing pandemic," the committee's chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Yabo said.

Alhaji Nababa Umar, the Permanent Secretary, State Health Ministry, who visited the PHC disclosed that adequate drugs were provided by the government.

"We have these drugs while we have a standing emergency committee on such epidemics," he said.
