Kenya: 1 Person Killed After Residential Apartment Wall Collapses in Ruaka

Nairobi — One person has been killed after a perimeter wall at an apartment building collapsed in Ruaka during heavy rains.

According to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, two other people were injured following the incident.

He stated that a third person was rescued during the operation by the county government's disaster management team.

The County Government has subsequently ordered tenants living in the surrounding three apartments to vacate as a precautionary measure.

Governor Wamatangi stated that a multi-agency team comprising county and national government officials will embark on conducting an inspection and assessment exercise of all structures in the county.
