The Nigeria government issued a statement saying that Shiite leader Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky was planning to seek asylum in an unnamed country, saying his actions in India demonstrated malicious intent, capable of embarrassing the governments of Nigeria and India, according to a report by Olawale Ajimotokan, Kingsley Nweze and John Shiklam for This Day. On arrival from India yesterday, he was whisked away by authorities at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and his whereabouts are unknown.
